Okeechobee Crappie Fishing Report For 1/27-2/2-2019

The Crappie Fishing Report For This Week Has Been Great. We Have Gotten A Few Inches Of Rain This Week Which Has Added Lots Of Oxygen To Water And Really Has The Crappie Chewing. Lake Levels Are Still Low So Be Careful When Travelling Across Shallow Areas.

Daily Limits Of Crappie Are Being Caught Fishing In The River Anywhere From 5-18ft Deep Along The Drop Off And In Suspended Schools On Minnows And Brighter Colored Jigs. We Are Having Fairly Consistent Water Temperatures Which Are Allowing The Crappie To Get Into A Recurring Feeding Pattern.

The Fishing Out In The Lake Has Also Greatly Improved. Fishing The Warming Weather Is Continuing To Bring The Fish To Shallow Water, With Reports That Fish Are Being Caught Around Kings Bar And The Surrounding Pencil Weeds In 2-3 Feet Of Water Using Bright Colors. The Crappie That Are Being Caught Stomach’s Were Examined And Mainly Consisted Of Minnows, And TONS Of Grass Shrimp.

The Bite On The South Side Of The Lake Continues To Produce Daily Limits Of Fish Being Caught In 4-5 Feet Of Water In The Rim Canals And Drop Offs, Around Slims Fish Camp Moving Up North Towards Tree Island, On Both Minnows And Jigs. The Fish Seems To Be Alternating Between Feeding In Shallow Water And Moving Deeper About 1-2 Ft And Circling Back Around, So If The Bite Goes Cold; Move Around,They Haven’t Moved Far. Hopefully This Weather Stays And We Won’t Have To Endure Another Week Of Ever Changing Conditions.
